The mission of 保持Kern的美丽 (新古毛) is “to protect and beautify our natural environment by means of community engagement, 教育, 和赋权.”

新古毛 was created for the purpose of educating our community about littering behavior, 控制和预防, 废物处理, and beautification projects while creating a healthy, 安全, and enhanced community environment for all residents to enjoy.

新古毛 partners with local nonprofit organizations, 企业, and residents to:

• Organize Community Clean-up 事件
• Implement a county-wide Adopt-A-Road program
• Empower residents to clean up illegal dumping in their communities through Large Item Collection 事件 and Curbside Large Item Collections
• Communicate information on existing programs, ordinances, and fee structures
• Educate residents on the responsible ways to dispose of waste, the benefits of recycling, and the disadvantages of illegal dumping

保持Kern的美丽 Committee

The Board of Supervisors of 克恩县 each appoints one Primary Member and one Alternate Member to represent their district to the 新古毛 Committee. Each Member shall serve a two-year term.

Community Clean-Up 事件

Clean-up events are coordinated with volunteers from community organizations such as churches, 学校, 民间团体, 企业, and others that want to make 克恩县 the best that it can be. Volunteers are provided trash bags to use during clean-up activities. Illegal dumping areas have been cleared by volunteer groups of ten to several hundred. It’s the spirit of the group and the conviction of the individual that makes the difference! To organize a community clean-up through 新古毛, please fill out the contact form below.

Adopt-A-Road

The 克恩县 公共工程 Department's Adopt-A-Road program specifically targets roadside litter. Residents and 企业 can adopt up to a two-mile portion of County roads for regular clean-up. Large Item Collection 事件 (Bulky 浪费)

Another tool in the battle against illegal dumping is Bulky 浪费 Collection 事件. 整个郡, communities work with the Department and local waste haulers to host convenient community collection events for residents to bring large household items for disposal or recycling. Common household items include: sofas, 椅子, 桌子, 表, 搁置单元, 冰箱, 炉灶, 热水器, 烤箱, lawn furniture and children’s toys. Large Item Collection 事件 are typically held twice a year on a Saturday morning. Curbside Large Item Collection (Bulky 浪费)

在贝克斯菲尔德市区, residents may call to schedule a pick-up of unwanted large items – right from their curb! Up to two items can be placed at the curb, for collection, each month. Acceptable items are furniture, appliances, large toys, mattresses, televisions, and computers.

Residents, living within the City of Bakersfield may call 661-326-3114 to schedule a pick-up.

Residents living in unincorporated Bakersfield call 661-322-6863 to schedule a pick-up.
